Herbivores
Plants are the herbivors favorite meal at any time of the day. herbivors are usally small and very quick. They need their speed so that they can get away from predators such as snakes, jaguars, eagles and larger birds. Herbivors in the Amazon Rain Forest eat plants from the Amazon Basin such as Vanilla Orchids and Cashew plants. In conclusion animals are the vegetarians of the rain forest.

Name: Great Curassow
Description: The Great curassow belongs to the family Cracidae.There are many different kinds of curassows.The Great curassow can grow up to 40 inches.They are a game bird which has similarities to a chicken.It is hunted for its meat, which tastes very good.The Great curassow builds its nest in trees.It is a poor flier.Much of the time it spends on the ground scratching around for food, just like a chicken.The female usually has about two babies and she does all the work in taking care of the young.The Great curassow is basically a solitary creature.The males are mostly black and the females are brownish and rust colored. The females also have a crest with black and white markings.
Habitat: Rainforests in Central and Northern South America.
Diet: Fruits, leaves, nuts, berries, leaves, and flowers..
Predators: Humans, larger mammals and snakes.

Name: Brown Titi Monkey
Description: There are 13 different species of Titi monkeys.Brown Titis are arboreal (tree-dwelling) and rarely come to the ground.They are about a foot long with a tail of around 14 - 16 inches.Males and females both weigh around 30 ounces.Females give birth to a single baby.They are diurnal (active mainly during the day).The Titi monkey sleeps in trees amongst vines.
Habitat: Parts of Brazil and Peru. Flooded forests and bamboo forests of the Amazon Basin. Understory and canopy.
Diet: Mainly fruit and leaves. Some insects.
Predators: Larger snakes and mammals.

Name: Capuchin Monkey
Description: The Capuchin monkey belongs to the family, Cebidae. There are five different species of Capuchin monkeys.They are also called "sapajou" and the "ring-tail monkey".Named after a monk.Generally, capuchins weigh between 2.5 - 4 kilograms, depending on the species.Capuchins are arboreal (tree-dwelling) and are active day and night.They are a very sociable animal and live in "groups". They "yell" to warn of an intruder.Capuchins are great climbers and spend most of their time in trees. They usually come to the ground only to drink.Capuchin mothers give birth to a single baby.If the baby loses its mother, a different mother will bring it back.They have a small poof on their head called a "ruff".Capuchins have very nimble fingers and they have a prehensile tail.They have a life span of 35-45 years.Since they eat a lot of fruit and seeds, Capuchins are "seed dispersers" for many rainforest plants and trees.
Habitat: Central and South AmericaMid-canopy of the Amazon Rainforest.
Diet: .Ripe fruits, leaves, insects and seeds. Small backboned animals.
Predators: Eagles, jaguars, and other larger birds.
