The roll of Producers is to start the food chain. Producers are green because of a molecule called chlorophyll. When the sun shines through the chlorophyll it uses light energy and chemical energy to make glucose. They also use the suns energy to make food in a process called photosynthesis.They start the food chain by being eaten by herbivors, which get eaten by carnivores.

| They grow on medium sized trees that have oval leaves that appear bunched up next to the branch due to the short stem. |

| tree may grow 12-16 meters (30-50 feet) tall, fruit is about 8 inches long, and contains about 60 seeds inside. |

| may reach a lenght of 60 to 100 feet,the leaves are about 8 inches long. |
