South America is home to one third of the worlds animal species, it has the largest river system in the world (The Amazon), and the longest mountain range in the world (the Andies). This continent is filled with interesting and strange animals and people. It goes from thousands of feet in elivation to the most wet diverse rainforst. Hundreds of years ago on the Western side of the continent, the Incas. They were one . of the first major civilization. Even today some natives still follow the customs of their ansestors
The Amazon Rainforest:
The Amazon Rainforst has one of the most wet climates. It is engulfed in plantlife, has an immense river going strait through it (the Amazon River), and has one third of the worlds animal spicies. Few people live in the Amazon due to the harsh conditions and lack of roads. One of the only means of trasportation is by boat down the winding Amazon River. Yet deforestation is a problem that has been creeping up to the public for decades.
