Producers of the Amazon Rainforest
Producers play a big role in the Amazon. They have to feed all the animals in the rainforest. Most of the producers produce every year or so, some don't.

This is a breadfruit whose inside can be prepared by boiling, baking, roasting or frying. It is a dietary staple much like potatos are in many other parts of the world.

Name of Plant: Kapok Tree
Description of Plant:This is the largest tree in a 100 km (60 mile) radius. It is over 55 meters (190 feet) tall and 35 meters (128 feet) from the ground to the lowest branch. The base is about 10 meters (30 feet) in diameter.

Uses of Plant (consumption/medicinal):
It is used to make furniture, insulation, stuffing, and is found inside some life jackets because the fiber is light-weight and waterproof. Unfortunately, the fiber is not usable for clothing because it is short and breaks easily so you can't make thread out of it like cotton.
