South American Carnivores
There are many diffrent kinds os carnivores in the Amazon such as the ones posted below. Carnivores eat other animals to make room for other animals to come and join the food chain circle.
Name: Pac Man Frog
Description: Pac Man frogs have huge mouths and are fierce predators, not afraid to attack anything that moves near it. Even young Pac Man frogs have been known to eat each other.
Habitat: Tropical forests in Argentina, Uruguay, and parts of Brazil. Rainforest floor. Less moist habitats as well.
Diet: Anything that they can get their mouths on. Other frogs, small birds, insects, lizards, small rodents, and beetles.
Name: Anaconda
Description: They are as thick as a telephone pole, bigger species can weigh about 200-300 pounds (most of their weight comes from liquids), and can be over 30 feet long as adults (most are probably in the 15-25 feet range).
Habitat: Northern South America. Marshes, brushes and swamps. Understory layer. Parts of the Amazon rainforest.
Diet: Capybara, tapir, frogs, turtles, caiman, alligator, water birds, and small mammals.
Name: Amazon Giant Catfish
Description: The biggest catfish in the Amazon (and the whole world) is the piraiba (Brachyplatystoma filamentosum). It is said that these monsters can exceed 450 pounds and 9 feet in length. Commercially caught specimens have exceeded 350 pounds.
Habitat: Amazon Basin. Amazon River and tributaries.
Diet: Other fish, loves piranha. Other aquatic organisms.
