FOOD WEBS
Food Chains:
A food chain shows how energy goes from one living thing to the other. When a mouse eats leaves or grass it gets energy to live. A snake gets energy from eating the mouse and a hawk gets energy from eating a snake. The animals depend on each other to get energy and live. If they don't have each other they die.

Food Webs:
A food web shows more detail about how animals get energy. For example: The hawk eats snakes, rabbits and small animals. The snake eats mice and frogs and other rodents. The mouse eats leaves and grass and other plants for energy. The plants get their energy from sunlight and water.

The Delicate Balance of Organisms:
If a species is changed or eliminated from the food web it will have an effect on other species. Each species depends on certain other species for energy and survival. A small change can have a big impact on all other species.
