Carnivores play an important role in the rainforest in the foodchain. A Carnivore is an animal who eats other animals. There are many different species of carnivores that live in the rainforest. Name: Jaguar
Description: A Jaguar can be in two colors, one is a jaguar like the one on the left and the other is a black jaguar.Jaguars are getting closer to being an endangered species because their habitat is being destroyed and poaching. A jaguars tail is usually 6 feet long. Male jaguars can weigh up to 250 pounds and females can weigh up to 150 pounds. They can grow up to 73 inches in length. Jaguars are rarely ever seen in the rainforest.
Habitat: A Jaguar lives in Central and South America. It likes dense tropical forests, swamps, and open country. It also likes understory layers of the rainforest.
Diet: It eats grown animals such as peccaries, capybara, sloth, tapir, deer, cattle, fish, frogs, turtles, small alligators, and monkeys A jaguar loves to eat meat and it will almost always eat anything it can find.

Name: Puma
Description: Full grown pumas can be up to 5 feet long not including the length of their tail. Pumas can also leap up to 15 feet. Baby Pumas are blind when they are born. Adult pumas can be either a grayish, yellowish, or reddish color.Pumas are the second largest cat that lives in America. Pumas rarely kill their prey by claws, usually the kill their prey by breaking its neck. There are 2-4 pumas in a litter. A pumas hair is very short and soft and they can carry up to six times their body weight on their backs.
Habitat: Pumas live in Parts of North America, Central America, and South America. They like a variety of environments including dry, wet, and rainforests.
Diet: Pumas like to eat Deer,Beavers,Porcupines, and monkeys.

Name: Ocelot
Description: Ocelots can grow to be 30-41 inches long and weigh up to 15-30 lbs. No two ocelots ever look alike, they all have different patterns of their fur. Ocelot fur is in high demand and is considered valuable. Ocelots are very unique because they can breed in any season or temperature and they only mate during the night. Male and female ocelots do not hunt together. One or two baby ocelots are born each year.
Habitat: Ocelots live in forest and bushlands ranging from Texas to South America. They also like understory layer of rainforest.
Diet: Ocelots eat agoutis, pacas, peccaries, birds, rodents, and small mammals.
