Opening
Front Page Express and creating your work folders
- Double click the
Front Page Express icon.
- Go to File >>>
Open >>> (Your folder) >>> New Folder
- Click new folder
and name the folder foodweb
- Within the new
folder foodweb create another folder named pictures. To
the top.
Saving
a picture in your "pictures" folder
- Go to the Amazon
Food Web site
- Use the following
path to get to the Home Page template; The Process >>> Home
Page template.
- Put your cursor
over the "Picture Goes Here" picture
- Right click the
mouse while the cursor is over the picture.
- Highlight "Save
Picture As
" and left click
- In the "Save
In" window direct the computer to your new folder "pictures",
(your folder) >>> foodweb >>> pictures
- Save the picture
in your pictures folder. Make sure the file name for this picture is
actually "picture". You can rename other pictures you save
but this one should be named picture.
- The steps above
can be applied to many images on the Internet. You must get permission
to use the images though. Without permision it is against the law to
use copyrighted images, it is stealing. To the top.
Copying
a template page
- Go to a template
page.
- Right click on
the yellow portion of the page.
- Highlight "View
Source" and left click
- Go to Edit >>>
"Select All" and left click
- Go to Edit (again)
>>> "Copy" (or CTRL+C) and left click
- Now go to Front
Page Express.
- Go to View >>>
"HTML".
- Highlight all
of the HTML code by left clicking the beginning of the code and dragging
the cursor down past the end of the code.
- Once all of the
code is highlighted hit the delete key.
- Then paste the
new code from Mr. B's site by hitting the "CTRL" key and the
"V" key at the same time.
- Click "OK".
- Save the page
by going to File >>> "Save As".
- Change the Page
Name and then click the "As File" button in lower right corner
of the "Save As" Window.
- Next, click the
Browse button and direct the computer to your "foodweb" folder.

Inserting
a picture
- You first need
to save the picture in your 'pictures' folder. See above
for details.
- While in Front
Page Express, place your cursor in the position you want your picture
to be.
- Go to Insert >>>
Image and left click.
- Click the "Browse"
button and direct the computer to your "pictures" folder.
- Either double
click the picture you want to insert or click the picture title once
and then click the "Open" button.
- The picture is
then instantly inserted. To the top.
Naming
your page and saving it in your "foodweb" folder
- While working
in Front Page Express, go to File >>> "Save As" and
left click.
- Delete the word
"Template" from the Page Title. You can also rename the page
but don't!
- Left click the
"As File" button and direct the computer to the "foodweb"
folder within your folder. Once you are in your "foodweb"
folder click "Save". Do not place this page in your "pictures"
folder, the "pictures" folder is for pictures and not web
pages. To the top.
Changing
the look of your web page
- Text: Highlight
words and then go to File >>> "Font" and change the
font, color and size of the text.
- Background:
Go to File >>> "Background" and change the color
of the background. Make sure your background and text colors are adequate
matches. Your viewers does not need to get a headache while looking
at your web site! You can use a picture background if you want to and
you know how. You can also change the color of your links, active links,
and visited links from the background screen. To the

Making
Links: Giving sites credit for the pictures you use
- When using a
picture from another site, write the name of the site underneath the
picture.
- Highlight the
name of the site.
- Go to Insert >>>
"Hyperlink".
- Write the site's
entire web address in the URL window. You can use the CTRL+C to copy
an address and CTRL+V to paste the address into the window. Cutting
and pasting prevents incorrect addresses.
- Click "OK".

Saving
your work as you work
- Do not lose any
of your hard work. Save frequently to avoid those "crashes".
If your computer crashes You will lose everything since the last time
you saved the page.
Go to File >>> "Save". Save frequently and always
before you close out of Front Page Express. To the

Viewing
your work
- Open Explorer
(Memorial Middle School's Home Page).
- Go to File >>>
"Open" and left click.
- Click the "Browse"
button.
- Direct the computer
to your "foodweb" folder.
- Either double
click the page you want to view or click the page title once and click
the "Open" button.
- If you make changes
to your page and want to view those changes, save the page in Front
Page Express and then click the "Refresh" button in Explorer.
Your page will reload with the changes. To the top.
